Welcome to our project, Our Life as Elderly, part 1 just completed

Elderly Care when the older to be decides.
Many interesting results and concrete tools for the future elderly care.
Our Life as Elderly (OLE) has now after three years been successfully completed.
On this website we present information about our project, how we worked and above all about our many interesting findings.
We hope that OLE , our work and results will be an inspiration to you, whether you work with elderly care or if you, like many of us, just wonder what it will be like when that day comes.

OLE, part 1 was a transnational project in cooperation between the City of Lulea, Sweden, the Municipality of Bodö, Norway, Highland Council Scotland and the Faroe Association of Municipalities, Faroe Islands as well as a number of other concerned organizations.
OLE ran for a period of three years and was part-financed by the European Community through Interreg III B, Northern Periphery Programme.
A common challenge
We have reached the position where more and more people stay healthier and live longer.
A major concern, in spite of the positive progress, is the economic responsibility for the well being of our increasing number of elderly. This is a common challenge for the countries of the European Union.
Overall objective

Our objective was to develop new and more effective ideas and working models for service, recruiting of staff, housing, and quality in care, as well as wider society interaction and cross generation involvement that will meet the future requirements. Through a number of subprojects we prepared our municipalities and produced concrete tools to meet our common challenges.
A better care for our elderly is not aimed only to meet the challenge as such, but also to enhance our competitive edge as a region to stimulate economic growth and general welfare.
